Last night, at the July 22, 2025 board meeting, the Orland Fire Protection Board of Trustees unanimously agreed to put Ambulance 1 back in operation for 12 hours each day (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.).

However, this does not mean that Ambulance 1 will go back into operation immediately.  IDPH must approve these hours of operation. The District is actively working with IDPH and Region 7 to reach an agreement on the operation of Ambulance 1.

In the meantime, the District maintains continuous operation of five ambulances, six fire trucks or engines, and one utility vehicle, 24 hours a day. Each of these vehicles are equipped with Advanced Life Saving equipment. No region of the District is without the emergency response or ambulance services that it has always received.

The Board and District staff are working to get Ambulance 1 back in service as quickly as possible.  Please stay tuned for updates.
