Senior Holiday Luncheon

The Orland Fire District’s Fire Prevention Bureau held our Annual Christmas Senior Safety Luncheon on December 17, 2015. The luncheon began with a welcome speech from Acting Chief, Mike Schofield.

Our speakers this year spoke on a touchy subject, HOARDING. A Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them. Kristine Todd, from KAT Organize Relocation Solutions, offered great information on the subject and how she can help re-organize their “stuff” and make better use of their space. Sean Lindsay, from 1-800-GOT-JUNK, spoke about ways people can remove items from their homes and the process in which they can do this in order for them to get re-organized.

Next, lunch was served. Winston’s Market provided a fantastic meal.

Amanda Mauceri, at Evergreen Senior Living spoke about the new senior living facility coming to Orland Park.

Betsy Dine and Mike Ercoli hosted fun games of Bingo for Christmas prizes and gift cards. Everyone left with a bag full of safety information and a coffee mug filled with items from Orland Fire Protection District.

Thanks to all who attended to help make this such a great event. Great job to Betsy, Mike, Pat, Joan, Stephanie and Bill, and a special thanks to our Senior Advisory Council for all their help!
