Junior Cadet Program

After the completion of our Pilot Cadet Program in summer 2018, the District has decided to make the Junior Cadet Camp a regular program that we will offer every summer in the future! We had an incredible turnout last year and the feedback was very positive! Almost all of the participants last year said they wanted to become a firefighter when they grew up! Many of them were surprised how much they learned and how cool it was to be dressed in “real” firefighter gear and learn some of the techniques that they use day in and day out on the job.

Therefore, the District’s Junior Cadet Program WILL be offered again this summer as a one day course! It will be held at our Training Center located at 10728 W. 163rd Place on Monday, July 15, 2019. This class will be offered to the first 15 children (residents ONLY) between the ages of 13 – 16 years old. This class will give students a glimpse of an opportunity to explore Fire Rescue & EMS. When the campers age out of Junior Cadet Camp, the District offers a Cadet Program.

The Junior Cadet Program will provide a combination of classroom and side-by-side training with the District’s Firefighters and current Cadets. Camp registration will begin on Monday, June 3, 2019. Registration is held on Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 3:00pm at the Administration Building (9790 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL 60462). If/when the camp is filled, we will begin a waiting list.
