The Orland Fire Protection District knows that training is essential for a safe and efficient emergency sense and prides itself on knowing that all District responders have the highest level of training. For a list of various training certification required from personnel, visit the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
The Training Facility consists of a four-story training tower, a two-story collapse simulator, a burn/garage simulator, and a large open area. The layout provides plenty of space for a wide variety of trainings. Various props and simulators are available on site: confined space simulator, flammable liquid burn pit, one-ton chlorine simulator, tank car, tanker truck, trench collapse simulator, etc.
The Command Training Center (CTC) is a classroom designed to train company officers and incident commanders in the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively run emergency incidents. Through the CTC, students use interactive video along with mobile and portable communications to develop and reinforce basic to advanced command procedures and skill sets. The public’s safety as well as the safety of the District’s personnel are central to the mission of the CTC. The District believes that this simulation based training has a great value to all responders and ultimately the general public.
