The Orland Fire Protection District’s Finance Bureau consists of a Finance Director, Assistant to the Finance Director, and Accounting Assistant. The Bureau develops, disperses, and accounts for the budget of the Fire District. As a special taxing district, the revenue side of the budget is mainly received from property taxes. State Statutes define how revenue and disbursements are handled. The Board of Trustees adopts a budget ordinance after it has been publicly displayed and a public hearing has taken place. After the budget ordinance, the Board adopts a levy ordinance which provides Cook County information to utilize for the property tax cycle.
The Finance Bureau has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association every year since 2008.
