Annual FAO Rodeo Information
August 30 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Orland Square Mall
Join the OFPD for the 3rd Annual FAO Rodeo. Fire Apparatus Operators
- Paramedics - EMTs are invited to test your driving skills against
your peers for bragging rights as "the best driver." We
will provide the engine and ambulance. Drivers follow a course to simulate
actual driving conditions as prescribed by NFPA 1002,
Standard for Fire Apparatus
Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications.
Top five drivers in Fire Engine and Ambulance categories will
take home a trophy. Top three-person team in Fire Engine category
will host a traveling trophy for one year. Sign up now to
participate! Entry is FREE!! Limited to 50 competitors in fire
engine class and 50 in ambulance class. Competition will be held
rain or shine.
The best time is a combination of elapsed time on the course with
penalties added for each cone knocked down.
Enter the competition as an individual and/or three-person team (all
from same agency)!
Pre-register to ensure your place in the competition. Day of
competition registration is not guaranteed.
Fax entry to OFPD Rodeo at number designated on entry form.
Competitors will be eligible for door prizes.
DRIVER'S CRITERIA
-- active member of fire department or ambulance service
-- current valid driver's license
-- qualified emergency apparatus or ambulance driver within your
organization
-- HAVE NOT CONSUMED ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WITHIN LAST 24 HOURS
-- have not been convicted of felony, DUI or reckless driving within
last 2 years

Orland Square Mall is located
at 151 St and LaGrange Rd in Orland Park. Competition will take
place in old theatre parking lot at southwest corner, next to Bank
Financial. Awards
ceremony will follow immediately at conclusion of competition.

Orland Fire-EMS FAO Rodeo Winners (2007)
The 2nd Orland Fire-EMS
FAO Rodeo was held on Saturday, August 25. Fifty-nine competitors
drove a fire engine or ambulance through a course designed to test
driver skills and safety.
Team Competition
The team competition
consisted of three members from the same agency who had the lowest
combined times driving the fire engine. The team Orland Fire # 1 composed of
Eng Dan Koenig, Lt Joe Leddin, and Eng Scott Nietfeldt had a combined
time of 14:25:30.
